Corail obsession!

It’s been ages since all the Youtube beauty gurus have been speaking about corals and it’s only now that I’ve decided to have a serious look at it. Actually, yes and no. Well, let me explain.

I’ve been using the same blush that I love for years now: Warm Soul from MAC. A kind of warm shimmery pink (not bright then) which suits me perfectly but that I find a little bit too warm for summer.

I wanted something fresh, happy and light… And given I had to enjoy a MAC make-up session in Liège, it was the perfect opportunity to get some advice and find the perfect combos I was looking for.

I first had to wait for the make-up artist as she was taking care of another customer when I arrived. I thus went through the store and found a new paint pot that… Raaaaaahhh! Loooooove! We thus took that paint pot as a good point to start with and mixed it with my wishes: a fresh and light summer make-up but still having some work on the eye shadow (just on the socket line, nothing too complicated) as well as a flawless and glowy foundation.

I also decided to make a short photo shoot with the evolution of the make-up thanks to my IPhone which I completed once I was back home with my photo camera.

Nous voici au départ… A l’origine…

So here we are, at the very beginning, the BIG BANG, the apocalypse on earth… So me, without make-up and a new way of wearing a fringe.

Bein oui!

So what? Of course I used a filter! Did you really think I would let you enter in the very intimacy of my face?

I wouldn’t be able to make a list of every products Aisha – the make-up artist who took care of me and who is adorable, never shy on giving good advice and full of nice ideas, I strongly recommand her!- used because she went from moisturizing to brows: so a lot of products. However, I will show you the one I found important to me.

SO! We started with that lovely paint pot called « Let Me Pop ». A shimmery creamy eye shadow with orange-pinky-gold reflects. At first sight it looks flashy but it’s all about applying it well (not with a trowel then!). In addition to that, Naked Lunch was added on the inside corner of the eye in order to highlight.

For the socket line, Aisha suggested me a pinky-orange shimmery eye shadow called Paradisco which I think I wouldn’t have noticed by myself. She first applied a touch of a brown matte eye shadow – Corduroy- in order to give more definition to the socket line. It has been slightly applied on the outside corner of the eye with a 239 brush and then blended out with the famous 217 on the socket line. Paradisco came just after on the socket line too and was also blended out with a 217 brush. A greyish-black pencil blended on the top lash line in order to make the lash line thicker and give more definition to the eyes, a touch of it on the lower lash line too with a little bit of Paradisco and that was it!

She then worked with a mineral concealer mixed with a little bit of highlighter under the eyes. The result was much more natural and fresh without having some lovely awful white plates around my eyes.

We then went on the foundation. I could try a mattifying cream which worked like a bomb! A regular hydration cream and we were already back to the MatchMaster foundation. I then could try a soft bronzing powder in « Soft Sands » from the Temperature Rising Colour collection… And the last one available went away with another lucky girl while Aisha was finishing her wonderful work on me… I really loved the colour which was soft and not orange at all. There was also a nice light shimmer in it which was really pleasant. It did his job without being too brown or orange as it can often be in contouring!

Petit interlude…

Small break here… Was really curious to know if it was still available on the MAC online shop and then went without any expectation to check this… It was still available and… While I was holding firmly my wallet in my hand, it just went nuts by itself. What could I do? I’m weak as already said!

Le portefeuille est lâché… Premier achat sur MAC online. Je suis faible. Très faible… Retournons à l’article… Paraît que j’écrivais des choses donc…

But anyway… I think I was writing something, wasn’t I?

Concerning highlighters, Aisha used a wonderful mineral powder with pink and gold reflects (Honey Rose) and for the blush, she chose a lovely shimmery coral as I first wanted.

And that was it! Foundation, lips and brows done! Glowy, matte and flawless as I wanted it! Here is another pic taken with my IPhone but this time, without any filter. You can see well the work on the foundation on this one.

Et puis forcément… Bein j’ai un peu craqué…

And of course… I was weak again…

Bein quoi?!

I think I was quite reasonnable given I had to buy an empty palette of four eye shadows and a coral blush… Wasn’t I? …

Enfin…

Anyway… Here is the famous « Let Me Pop » paint pop…

And here is the result taken with my own photo camera. Please, don’t be too hard on me because it was quite difficult to shoot myself with the only help of a mirror.

Arf! ^^

Of the three MAC shadows that I have Paradisco is one of them! 🙂 Love to use it during the Summer, though I always add some beige as well because it looks too orange on my skin. (Might be my imagination though…)

I think I’m going to give contouring a try in the near future, just have to find the right product and brush 🙂 Ever tried that? If yes, any tips? 😀

It is very orange and really has to be softened by a neutral colour otherwise I guess it will be « carnaval » 🙂 The brown one I got is funny because it softens Paradisco and add some definition as well. I would never thought by myself that a dark shadow was able to soften a bright one!

I let time pass for a long moment before trying contouring. It was like: ho, I’m not from Brixton ya know!? But you have different types of contouring and as for everything in make-up, all depends on what you want and how you apply it. I like having some on the cheeks to make my face thinner but I’ll definitely pass on the contouring includine the nose for example.
As for the brush, I recommend you the Real Techniques ones. You have to order them but they are worth the MAC ones and less expensive. Read my two reviews if you want to know more: https://www.unefeedanslesetoiles.be/2012/08/27/pinceaux-real-techniques-real-techniques-brushes-review-1/ and https://www.unefeedanslesetoiles.be/2012/09/18/pinceaux-real-techniques-real-techniques-brushes-review-2/

I use the blush brush for contouring now. It’s easier to blend well (soooo important so that you don’t have a line on your cheeks… Nobody wants harsh brown or orange lines on their cheeks^^).

As for the product, Harmony blush from MAC is perfect for a lot of skin tones. You start with a little bit and go for more until you arrive to the result you wanted. You know I’ve got quite a faire skin and this is the one I use. I just apply less amount than another one with a tanned skin I guess. It’s also really easy to work with so I think it’s a good one to start with. Don’t hesitate to tell the MAC saleswoman it’s for contour so that she’ll show you how to do on your face. It will help you to reproduce it at home.
